Curious Puppy Living Between Garage Walls Finally Rescued

What began as a typical weekend in East L.A. took an unusual turn when neighbors spotted something strange. Every now and then, a small, fluffy white head would pop out from a gap between two garage walls, only to vanish moments later. Intrigued, they investigated and discovered a tiny puppy had somehow wedged himself in the narrow space between the concrete walls.

Although the puppy could squeeze in and out on his own, the gap was far too small for anyone to reach him. Every time the neighbors tried to get close, the frightened pup would retreat deeper into the crevice. They left food out to lure him, and while he ate, he remained elusive. After several failed attempts, they called in Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, for help.

Hall and her volunteers were stunned by the cramped space where the puppy had been living. “It was so hard to even reach him,” Hall shared on Facebook. Despite trying different treats, the scared puppy wouldn’t come out while anyone was around. He waited until the rescuers hid from sight before cautiously emerging to eat.

“He would come out, and we would hide,” Hall explained. “He ate everything around the trap but wouldn’t go inside.” After several more unsuccessful tries, the rescuers changed tactics. A volunteer named Kassandra climbed over the brick wall and used a tree branch to gently coax the puppy toward the opening. As soon as he was close enough, Hall carefully slipped a snappy snare around his neck and pulled him to safety.

Once freed, the little pup, now named Casper for his ghostly white fur and elusive nature, was taken to Camino Pet Hospital for a full checkup. On the way, Casper curled up for a nap, enjoying the cool air from the van’s air conditioning.

After receiving a clean bill of health and a fresh haircut, Casper is adjusting to his new life. Hall shared that while Casper was scared at first, he now rolls over for belly rubs and is blossoming into a happy pup. He will soon move to a foster home while he waits for his forever family, and with his charming personality, Hall is confident he’ll find the perfect home soon.
