Meet Steven Tyler, a 2-year-old pit bull terrier. He arrived at Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento, California, on July 25 and spent months eagerly awaiting adoption.

Steven Tyler’s daily ritual of standing at the kennel window, scanning for potential adopters, was captured in a TikTok video by the shelter. The sight of him waiting hopefully, only taking breaks to snuggle with his best friend, tugged at heartstrings worldwide.

Bradshaw Animal Shelter shared his story, hoping it would inspire someone to open their home to him. They even waived his adoption fees to encourage this.

Luna Anona, the shelter’s public information officer, expressed disbelief at his prolonged stay. She told Newsweek, “I thought, if everyone could see what I’m seeing right now, somebody will surely come give this dog a happily ever after.”

The poignant video quickly went viral, racking up over 650,000 views on TikTok and thousands more on Facebook. Thousands of comments poured in, expressing hopes for Steven Tyler’s swift adoption.

Finally, Steven Tyler’s patient wait paid off — he’s been adopted! His tear-jerking video reached a family who immediately fell in love with him. They brought their entire family, including their dog Tahoe, to meet him. After a successful introduction, they knew he was the perfect addition to their family.

“He’s a gem,” the family said. “He got along with our dog instantly, and he is SO good with our kids. He’s sweet and loving and it feels like he’s been here forever. He fits our family perfectly.”

In a twist of humor, the family, not fans of Aerosmith, renamed the dog from Steven Tyler to “Donner.”
